Applus partners with leading hardware and software providers in creating integrated and robust intelligent surveillance solutions that allows public agencies to expand their presence and increase crime detection and prevention without adding additional personnel. The so-called “gunshot detection” solution integrates state-of-the-art surveillance cameras with specialized intelligent acoustical and sensor detection.
The Applus solution is truly next-generation technology deployed to control old world behaviors. The system is calibrated to detect a gunshot (as distinct from other sounds), and within 4/10ths of a second, alert authorities and simultaneously target the live video feed toward the sound to capture images. The resulting forensic data supports prosecution and, equally important, just the presence of this detection system can be an effective deterrent to crime.
In collaboration with our clients, Applus helps evaluate the optimum camera network design to best target those areas with a history of criminal activity. We build an IT infrastructure that integrates the camera’s software and communications with law enforcement agency’s IT platform. The solution provides live feeds and video storage capabilities for subsequent analysis that will also provide forensic evidence for cases of prosecution. Biometric matches save time by quickly determining an individual’s identity —sometimes right in the field—and the data storage and retrieval functionality allows agencies to build a database of images and to store image data in an individual’s file.
